Brownbread Horse Rescue is owned and managed by Dinty Steains and Tony Smith. The Charity was formed in 1972, set in 50 acres of undulating land in an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Across 12 paddocks, we have one of the highest numbers of flora and fauna species for any Wealden Meadow Farm. We are a charitable organisation safeguarding the welfare of all horses and ponies. We not only provide sanctuary to animals who have been mistreated but we are also a valuable resource to horse lovers. We have been operating for many years and celebrated our 50th anniversary in 2022.
Brownbread Horse Rescue is a registered charity no.1029341
Brownbread Horse Rescue is run by volunteers so please call before visiting. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. We cannot accept help of under 18 year olds with the horses. Group visits are welcome at £10 per hour to include tea and cake on the lawn and croquet following a guided tour.
Tony Smith provides talks on a variety of subjects that include talks about the charity's work and the history of horses. The fee is £85 plus any travel expenses.
Over the years, the farm has been used for photoshoots, films, field archery, birthday parties, garden parties, weddings and wakes. We have the luxury of an indoor pool, a pond with a water wheel, a windmill and lawns for crowquet or bowls.
